Vehicle Story

This 1938 Cadillac Series 75 Imperial Limousine is finished in Moleskin Grey over beige cloth. With coachwork by Fleetwood, the limo features seating for 7 passengers with reverse hinged rear doors. Power is provided by its factory original 346ci V8 engine, coupled to a 3-speed column shift manual transmission. Having been stored in a climate-controlled facility over the last 25 years, the car was very well maintained with records dating back to 1984. Located in Orlando, Florida, this Series 75 Imperial Limousine is now offered with a clear Florida title in the sellers’ name.

Finished in Moleskin Grey, the lacquer-based paint is of unknown age but in good condition with no excessive blemishes. All brightwork is in excellent condition, with no indications of pitting or flaking. The body is equipped with "suicide" rear doors, with the hinge points reversed from the front, allowing easier access into the rear passenger compartment. Other exterior features chrome front and rear bumpers, running boards, and dual spare tires mounted on the fenders with hardcovers.

The car rides on a 141" wheelbase chassis equipped with black steel wheels sporting chrome factory chrome hubcaps and wrapped in wide white-wall tires from the Lester Tire Company. Braking is handled by drum brakes on all four corners.

Inside, the front chauffeur seating is finished in black vinyl upholstery with matching door panels and flooring. The dash features wood fixtures atop a center console with a centrally mounted analogue clock and venting for heat. The passenger compartment has seating for five, with a three-person bench seat and two fold-down jump seats, all finished in beige cloth with matching carpeting. A footrest for passengers is also seen in the gallery and draped in the same matching carpet scheme. A partition with a manual rolldown window is fixed between the driver and passenger compartments is pictured in the gallery while a speaker and microphone communication system is also present, though the system currently is inoperable. Wood trim is featured around all windows as well as on the partition.

Behind the factory three-spoke steering wheel sits instrumentation, including a centrally mounted speedometer, which measures speeds to 120-mph. Other ancillary gauges include engine temperature, fuel level, oil pressure and battery voltage. A five-digit analog odometer shows over 56K miles, though true mileage is unknown.

Under the hood sits a flathead 346ci V8 engine, which is believed to be original to the car. The mechanicals of the car has been routinely maintained with records dating back to 1984. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted "H" pattern shifter.

Additional undercarriage photos are available in the gallery.
